Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Atlanta Team Behind Alcott Chimney Atlanta
We’ve been working on Atlanta chimneys since 2002, and in that time we’ve learned something predictable: homeowners here don’t just want clean flues, they want to know who’s climbing onto their roof. That’s fair. Our crew is made up of people who live in this area, know what Atlanta humidity does to masonry, and show up with a photo ID and a name you already know. Ruben Castellano, Owner, built this team with one rule: hire people who’d do the job right even if no one was watching. Every tech you’ll meet below passed a background check and identity verification before their first day on a roof here.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Diego M. – Lead Chimney Technician
Diego has been sweeping and inspecting chimneys in Atlanta for 14 years, the last six with us. He holds a CSIA certification and specializes in older masonry fireplaces in neighborhoods like Virginia-Highland and Grant Park, where decades-old brick and mortar need a careful eye. If your damper sticks or your flue tiles are spalling, he’s the one who’ll walk you through exactly what the camera sees. Diego is also our in-house HeatShield applicator, meaning he does the resurfacing work himself rather than handing it off to a subcontractor. Off the roof, he restores old motorcycles and has strong opinions about the best breakfast spots in Decatur.
Priya R. – Senior Fireplace & Gas Installer
Priya joined Alcott Chimney Atlanta eight years ago and leads our gas fireplace repair and installation work. She’s factory-trained on DuraFlex liner systems and Olympia Chimney components, and she handles vented and vent-free gas logs with the same attention to code. Priya is the person we send when a gas fireplace won’t stay lit or a homeowner smells something odd when the unit runs. She’ll explain the difference between a thermocouple and a thermopile if you’re curious, or just show you the problem and give you a written price before any repair begins. When she’s not testing gas pressures, she’s hiking at Sweetwater Creek or coaching youth soccer in Marietta.
Sam T. – Service Coordinator
Sam is the voice on the phone when you call (762) 356-6423, and he’s been answering around the clock since 2019. His job is simple but we think critical: a live person picks up every time, so you’re never leaving a voicemail when your fireplace smells like smoke at 11 p.m. Sam schedules every visit, sends the technician’s name and photo before arrival, and makes sure the written price is sent over before anyone shows up. He grew up in Gwinnett County and worked in HVAC dispatch before joining us, so he knows how to ask the right questions about airflow and odd noises. Sam keeps a running list of the best taco trucks on Buford Highway and will share it if you ask politely.
Marcus J. – Apprentice Technician
Marcus came on board in 2024 through a referral from a trade school in the area, and he’s been training under Diego ever since. He handles a lot of the prep work: tarping, equipment staging, roof safety setup, and camera scope retrieval. But he’s also on the roof watching and asking questions, because that’s how you learn a trade properly. Marcus grew up in East Point and spent two years doing residential roofing, so he’s comfortable on steep pitches and sticks to our safety protocols without being reminded. He’s currently studying for his CSIA certification and bakes sourdough on weekends, which the rest of the crew finds amusing and occasionally delicious.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this page works under the same set of non-negotiable rules, and those rules don’t shift depending on which neighborhood you live in or how big the job is. That’s the Threshold Standard, the operating framework we follow as part of the Threshold Group family of home-service companies. It means every technician is background-checked and identity-verified before they ever ring a doorbell. It means you get the technician’s name and photo before the visit, and they show up in uniform with a photo ID badge at the door. It means a written price is delivered before any work begins, no exceptions. It means every repair carries a written guarantee, and if that repair fails, the second visit is free. And it means our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every completed job for a full year. That’s not a marketing line. It’s the way we’ve run work in Atlanta since 2002, and the way we’ll keep running it.
